Ed's Ford Transit storage: two duffels on LoftLockers, ready to go up

Ed is upfitting a Ford Transit and wanted to hang duffels as cabinets. Ed bolted LoftLockers to a plywood furring strip, then fastened the strip to riv nuts in the existing holes in the roof ribs. The Patagonia duffels slide into place and a retainer goes in.

“It was nice to have them out of the way.”

Ed's setup

Ed is upfitting a Ford Transit and is hitting the road in it while the work continues. Ed's wife, Rose, was looking forward to using their Patagonia duffels on the first van trip.

Ed wanted to hang Patagonia duffels as cabinets in the van. The Ford Transit roof ribs already have holes in them, so Ed put M8 riv nuts in those holes and mounted the LoftLockers on a plywood furring strip that fastens to them.

How Ed did it

Ed shared photos and the steps for this Ford Transit storage mod. Here is what they show.

01 The roof ribs

Ed put M8 riv nuts in the existing holes in the Ford Transit roof ribs.

02 The furring strip

Ed cut a 3/4 inch plywood furring strip. Nuts, bolts and washers mount the LoftLocker to the plywood.

04 The duffel

Ed slid the duffels in place and put the retainer in position.
